Summer is here. So while we all want to be outside, spending hours and hours in the sun can be exhausting. Below are some of our favorite hikes located close to town. Most can be completed in under two hours!
Just remember, if you are visiting, we are at high altitude. Extra sunscreen and lots of water is recommended!
Proctor Loop
Start at the Hemingway memorial and navigate down and across the golf course to the quintessential in-town hike. Located just west of Sun Valley resort, this loop features magnificent views of the resort property, Baldy, and the iconic first chairlift on Ruud Mountain!
White Clouds
Park at the resort and just walk across the street! It is easy as that! The White Clouds trail loops around the hills just North of the resort with views of Baldy, the resort and towards Galena! Multiple off-shoots allow you to do a quick 45 minute loop, or take your time and spend two hours as you head west.
Greenhorn
Located in mid-Valley, the Greenhorn trail system offers a few options in terms of length or difficulty. This multi-use trail system (bikes and horses are permitted) features a variety of streams, flowers, shade and sun.
Taylor Canyon
Head north of Highway 75 and through the Lake Creek neighborhood to the trailhead. A slightly more difficult hike as you gain elevation, the views are worth it! There is limited parking at the trailhead, however, so be sure to arrive early!
